As consumers become more supportive of renewable energy, and industry begins to ramp up its ability to meet demand competitively, the BC MEMPR has responded by setting out a clear direction towards an energy future that contains a strong role for green energy sources, and greater efficiency measures.

    Read the Plan here:

As part of the BC Energy Strategy: A Vision for Clean Energy Leadership, MEMPR has identified several priorities in the area of skills, training and labour. These include:
    • Educating and informing high school students about options and career choices in B.C. energy sectors, including renewable energy and efficiency.
    • Initiating a public awareness and education campaign geared to potential energy sector workers.
    • Working collaboratively with industry, communities, First Nations, education facilities, the federal government and others to define the projected demand for workers and take active measures to meet those demands.
    • Attracting, developing and retaining workers focusing on under-represented groups: Aboriginal people, women, youth and immigrants.
    • Attracting workers from outside the province to ensure continued energy sector growth
    • Retraining skilled employees who are without work
