Enerworks is without question Canada’s solar thermal industry leader.  Bringing together engineering, design, manufacturing and installation services, Enerworks has been providing world-class solar thermal solutions from its base in Dorchestor Ontario for over ten years.

Founded in 1998 by two partners, Mike Noble and Dr Steven Harrison, the company has become a key player in the emergence of Canada’s solar thermal industry.  It has been involved in some of North America’s key solar thermal systems, like the Drake’s Landing development in the town of Okotoks, Alberta.  Other examples include Toronto Sick Kids Hospital and the Fletcher Business Park in Asheville, North Carolina.
In 2008, Enerworks celebrated its 1000th CSA-approved residential installation, which in total have offset an estimated 2,500 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

The Technology: Enerworks carries a range of solar hot water products, and packages systems together based on the customer’s needs.  Solar panels, piping, and heat exchangers that mount directly onto your hot water tank are all included in a turn-key clean energy solution. 

A typical installation will go like this: A feasibility study is first performed, to figure how how worthwhile a potential project may be, and the how much solar energy can make an impact, as well as the projected costs and financing options available. 
Next, a computer simulation is created by the engineering department, which gives a detailed forecast of the type of system and solar energy savings available.  Then a firm proposal is prepared for the customer, which details everything about the best system for their needs. 
If acceptable, the installation of the project is then carried out.  A careful commissioning takes place to start the system up, and ensure there are no problems with any parts of the process.  Training for the new system owner or staff is then provided, and a follow-up conference call to help answer any questions, and discuss future considerations.
