Green construction at Okanagan College gets boost from Fortis

Students in Okanagan College’s electrical apprenticeship program are getting more classroom space thanks to a $50,000 cash infusion from a local electric utility company.
The donation came from FortisBC and was earmarked for the Penticton campus’ new Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Building Technologies and Renewable Energy Conservation.
The result of the donation will be a the FortisBC Electrical Apprenticeship Classroom.
The Centre of Excellence building is currently under construction.
The college claims that the building’s design is one of the Canada’s most environmentally sustainable buildings. The centre will provide space for companies and other organizations to development environmentally-friendly technology.
